About us
The Mountain Company is an adventure travel company specialising in inspirational treks and expeditions to the Himalaya, Karakoram and Mount Kilimanjaro.
We are an independent travel company started by a group of experienced and enthusiastic leaders who are experts in leading treks and expeditions to Nepal, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Tibet and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Over the years we have developed a deep and comprehensive understanding of the trekking routes, conditions and culture of these countries.
Our aim is to be the best Himalayan trekking company. We strongly believe that to succeed in delivering the highest standards of service to our clients we need to be specialists in a small number of countries rather than cover every mountain range in the world. Roland Hunter, the owner and founder, has personally completed the majority of our treks and will give you advice based on his first-hand knowledge and experience.
We offer a wide range of journeys from gentle treks while staying at luxury lodges to mountaineering expeditions to Mera Peak or North Col of Everest. We have considerable experience in organising private itineraries; in fact all of our trips can be tailor-made to suit your personal interests and dates.
We work closely with the International Porter Protection Group (IPPG) and follow their five guidelines for porter protection. We also work with Climate Care, Tourism Concern, Porters Progress, Friends of Conservation and Kathmandu Environmental Education Project. A Responsible Tourism policy has been developed which aims to ensure that The Mountain Company and its clients act in a way that is socially, environmentally and culturally sound.
The Mountain Company is based in the UK although we usually find that our trekking groups are international with people coming from different countries of the world. Everyone is welcome.
We look forward to trekking with you in the future! Please get in touch with us at any time if you have any questions or would like further information.
