The Mountain Company team has unrivalled specialist knowledge of the Himalaya, Karakoram and Kilimanjaro.
Personal Service
Your contact for any questions before or after you book will be Roland Hunter. We encourage anyone who is interested in joining one of our treks to get in contact to discuss their requirements. We will give suggestions based on our knowledge of the areas and time of year you plan to go.
Your complete financial protection
The Mountain Company has financial protection insurance which is in accordance with The Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992. This has been arranged for us by International Passenger Protection Ltd and underwritten by Insurers who are members of the Association of British Insurers & Lloyds Syndicates.
The Mountain Company also has combined public/product liability and professional indemnity insurance with Arnold Fisher Insurance Services Ltd (policy number: TOL804810). This is another requirement under The Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992.
Small groups and trek leaders
The Mountain Company use Western and local leaders on our treks whose responsibilities are to ensure you have an enjoyable, safe and interesting experience. Where possible we like to use local leaders so that they can share their knowledge of the area visited whereas we use Western leaders for the more remote and logistically challenging treks.
The minimum group size for the majority of our treks is two members, with no additional small group surcharge, and the maximum is generally twelve to fourteen. Please see the Trip Dossiers for minimum & maximum group sizes.
Safety
Safety of our customers and trek staff is our top priority. This begins at the planning stage from designing a well thought out itinerary which allows for the necessary time for acclimatisation to the increase in altitude. All our guides are well trained and highly experienced in leading groups in the Himalayas. For our remote treks we bring a satellite phone for communications.
Good value
All of our treks are good value for money. We provide an excellent service at competitive prices and do not compromise on the quality of any aspect of the trip. We always ensure that our local staff are paid a fair wage.
Responsible Tourism
We are dedicated to responsible tourism with the aim that future travellers will see the destinations in a similar or better state than we have been able to. Low volume and low impact travelling is one of the most effective ways of preserving the fragile areas we visit. We have developed our own comprehensive Responsible Tourism Policy.
International Clients
The Mountain Company is based in the UK although we usually find that our trekking groups are international with people coming from different countries of the world. Everyone is welcome. We accept US Dollar payments from our non UK clients.
Client feedback and travel guidebooks
At The
Mountain Company we encourage clients to send feedback on their holiday and so far the comments have been very positive about our trekking holidays and mountaineering expeditions. Please read our Client Testimonials.
We are also delighted to be listed in Lonely Planet and Trail Blazer’s travel guidebooks. We are included under the Foreign Trekking Companies Section in the latest edition of Lonely Planet’s Trekking in the Nepal Himalaya as well as Trail Blazer’s guidebooks to Everest, Annapurna and Kilimanjaro.
