Who will be my contact at The Mountain Company?Your contact will be Roland Hunter, who is the owner and founder of The Mountain Company. He has visited all the locations included in our program of treks and will give you knowledgeable and friendly advice. What is the food like? The food provided on our treks is simple yet tasty, incorporating a mixture of local and western cuisine and there is always lots of it! For variety a different menu is produced each day, and special diets can be catered for. The food in the hotels, lodges and tea houses generally is very good depending on the location and quality of the accommodation. Who does the cooking? There is a cook on all our camping treks who is trained to prepare good food hygienically, using quite basic equipment it is amazing what they can produce! Will I get sick?By taking sensible precautions most people are fine, generally it is in the cities where you will be most at risk from untreated water or unhygienically prepared food. It is best to only drink treated or bottled water and use for brushing your teeth. Who will meet me at the airport?A representative will meet you at the airport, when you come out of the arrivals terminal look out for The Mountain Company sign. What will my hotel accommodation be like? The hotels used by The Mountain Company in Kathmandu, Islamabad, Delhi, Moshe and other locations have been chosen for their quality, comfort, location and character. Refer to the Trip Dossier for details of the particular hotels used on each itinerary. Is adventure travel for me?The trips organised by The Mountain Company will be enjoyed by anyone who has an enthusiasm for the outdoors, different cultures and overseas travel and is prepared to be open minded and flexible at times! Our trips are fun and informal and attended by a wide range of people. For more information on what adventure travel involves please click here We offer a range of trips which are all graded for difficulty to help you choose your holiday, if you would like advice please get in contact! What about travel insurance? You must take out adequate insurance in the unlikely event you become sick or injured and a medical evacuation is required, and evidence of insurance must be shown to us before departure. The Mountain Company has partnered with Snowcard to provide insurance for our clients, for an online quote please click here What about international flights? The Mountain Company does not take bookings directly for international flights, all prices quoted are land only prices (including all internal flights though). It is your responsibility to ensure your flight arrives at the destination with enough time before the trek departure.
