Rongbuk monastery & Everest North Face, Tibet Tibet is the largest and highest plateau on the earth; along its southern border runs the Himalaya, on its western border the Karakoram and between these two ranges lie the world's highest peaks including the fourteen 8000m mountains. Tibet still has the aura that so intrigued the early travellers with fascinating monasteries, friendly people, and an ecological wholeness that still persists.
