The mighty and rugged Karakoram range is located in Northern Pakistan on the border between China and India. It has the greatest concentration of the world's big peaks including four over 8000m -K2, Broad Peak and Gasherbrum 1 & 2- and the largest non polar glaciers found anywhere.

Roland Hunter, founder of The Mountain Company, first visited this area in summer 2004 while leading the International Broad Peak expedition. He is looking forward to returning in 2008 to lead both the Biafo and Hispar Glaciers with Snow Lake and K2 base camp and Gondogoro La treks.

The trekking season for Pakistan is in the summer as the area is not influenced by the monsoon like Nepal and some areas of India. The season begins at the end of May and continues on to mid October.
