The trek explores the area around Kanchenjunga which is the third highest mountain in the world at 8,598m. In addition to the main peak there are four subsidiary summits all over 8000m and more than twenty peaks over 7,000m in the vicinity. The trek has a wide range of scenery from lush, tropical jungle through rhododendron, chestnut and oak forests to the alpine zone. There are also beautiful flowering plants and a range of animals and birds. On this trip you will see the culture and life-style of the Rai and Limbu communities and the Tibetan villages at higher elevations. The route first approaches the north side of Kanchenjunga to Pangpema- along the trail there are views of Tent peak, Nepal peak, Cross peak and the Twins and at base camp Kanchenjunga itself becomes visible. From Pangpema the trek returns to Ghunsa and crosses the Mirgin La pass over to the south side of Kanchenjunga. Once over the pass we visit the yak pastures of Ramche and Oktang where there are views of the impressive south west face of Kanchenjunga.
