The trek will be led by Mike Farris, for more information on his background April 2009 Manaslu Circuit trek will be led by Alan Ward, for more information on his background This trek would appeal to anyone who is looking for a challenging trek in a remote region of the Nepal; it strikes deep into the heart of a previously restricted area and follows beautiful and unspoiled trails. The scenery is similar to the classic Annapurna Circuit although the trails are not as popular with western trekking groups. We have to pay extra for the special permit to visit this area, hence the price is a little more than some of the other treks. The trek is geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating. The Tibetans of the upper Buri Gandaki, a region known as Nupri ‘the western mountains’, are direct descendants of Tibetan immigrants. Their speech, dress and customs are almost exclusively Tibetan and there is still continuous trade between Nupri and Tibet. The mountain views in Nupri are sensational and the Larkya La (5,213m) is a dramatic Himalayan pass to cross.
