Over the last few days we have been working on our western led trek portfolio for Spring and Summer 2012 and allocating our western leaders for these trips. We have an exciting program lined up in Nepal, Pakistan and India (Ladakh) led by highly experienced Himalayan leaders (no doubt the best in the business!), the details are below:
In April we are organising our sixth Dhaulagiri Circuit trek in Nepal, this group will be led by Jill Lawson. This is one of the best three week treks with a wide variety of scenery from traditional Gurung villages with terraced fields then through sub tropical forest followed by entering high alpine with spectacular views of Dhaulagiri (seventh highest mountain in the world). After Dhaulagiri Base Camp we cross French Pass into the beautiful Hidden Valley and then over Dhampus Pass to descend into Kali Gandaki to Jomson for flight back to Pokhara and Kathmandu.
In mid April, Almas Khan is leading our challenging expedition traversing from Makalu to Everest. This trip takes you from Tumlingtar in the steamy lowlands near the Arun River over the Shipton La and into the remote and beautiful Barun river valley before arriving to Makalu Base Camp. From here we cross Sherpani Pass over to Baruntse Base Camp, then cross West Col to Panch Pokhari followed by the Amphu Laptsa into the Everest. This expedition is the crux section of The Great Himalaya Trail.
In late April and May we have a group led by Gary Pfisterer on our Upper Dolpo to Jomsom trek in Nepal. This is probably one of most remote treks in Nepal travelling close to Tibet border and passing through the Buddhist villages of Upper Dolpo. This trek crosses one section of the The Great Himalaya Trail finishing in Jomsom for flight back to Pokhara and Kathmandu.
Over the summer we have two treks visiting Pakistan, in July Snow Lake & Hispar La followed in August by K2 & Gondogoro La. Both of these treks will be led by our Pakistan specialist Adrian Summers who has completed both of these treks many times before (fifth trek to K2 & Gondogoro La and third to Snow Lake).
In July Alan Ward is leading a trek in Ladakh to Nubra and Shyok Valley crossing Lasermo La back to Leh. This is a circuit trek in one of the least visited areas of Ladakh with unspoilt landscape and stunning views of the Karakoram mountains especially from the summit of Lasermo la pass at 5,400m.
Please get in touch soon if you are interested in joining one of these treks or if you have any questions at this stage.
