Getting to know Adrian Summers

My favourite mountain range is the Karakoram and I think that the best trek there is Snow Lake and the Hispar La. This is such a unique trek although quite challenging but right in the heart of the mountains, spectacular scenery and amazing culture.

To be honest there have been too many to single out just one! I like the more remote trek with big open vistas so for me this is Upper Dolpo to Jomsom GHT in Nepal, Ladakh in India or the Karakoram in Pakistan.

Camera, it's great to capture a moment and really nice to look back when you get home and relive the memories. A pee bottle comes a close second.

Whilst travelling overland from Cardiff, Wales  to Sydney Australia, in 1995, I first experienced climbing and trekking in the Karakoram and Himalaya and I was hooked. I was living and working in Sydney Australia in IT and so I climbed trekked canyoned and sea kayaked lots, but really missed the big hills. After an expedition to climb in Western Mongolia I was offered a job as leader and setup up new treks and climbs in this country. Living in Mongolia was amazing and it was at a very interesting time. From that experience I have been travelling around the world, climbing and trekking. Not sure I could go back to a desk job now!

Yes too many! I am planning a full traverse of the Hindu Kush and Karakoram. A Pakistan GHT called the GHKKT. I am also looking at new treks in Mongolia, and Central Asia and expanding my treks in the Wakhan Corridor in Afghanistan.

I would love to return to Antarctica, not to the south pole but to some of the remote mountains, possible Queen Maudland. But if the lottery numbers do not come up, some kayaking trips in Australia, or explore some remote area of Mongolia.

Well Sams Bar off course but also Himalaya Java is a regular coffee stop. Also after extensive research Ktoo Steak house has the best steaks.

For me it's meetings and working with some amazing people. From porters or Yak / pony / camel headers / cooks guides and other leaders. Combining that with visiting amazing countries / cities / towns. Experiencing a different way of life and in amazing scenery that is special and priceless.
