Paro hotels

Uma by COMO is located in a serene 38 acre site amidst pine trees overlooking the Paro valley. Reflecting an understated philosophy of quiet comfort their 29 rooms, suites and private villas have been designed as a blend of traditional Bhutanese style with contemporary style. Villas have a traditional ’bukhari’ wood-burning stove. This property offers Ayurvedic massage, traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath, an indoor pool with outdoor sundeck and steam rooms. Other facilities include bars and lounges, a fitness centre and a boutique.

Aman Kora Paro is located in a pine forest at the northern end of Paro Valley near Balakha Village and is about 30 minute drive from Paro town. From the property there are views of 17th century Drukyel Dzong and to Mount Jhomolhari (7,300m). Amankora has been named by combining aman, the Sanskrit-derived word for ’peace’, and kora or ’circular pilgrimage’ in Dzongkha, the Bhutanese language. There are 24 suites combining rustic elements with contemporary design. The Guest Suites offer a combined lounge and bedroom furnished with a king-size bed, banquette window seat, reading chair and traditional bukhari wood-burning stove. The restaurant uses Bhutanese ingredients and also features Western interpretations such as yak carpaccio. There is spa with a sauna, steam room, five treatment rooms with hot stone baths and a yoga suite. There is also a library with books on the Bhutan and its culture.

Zhiwa Ling has been designed in traditional Bhutanese style with hand-carved wooden cornices and stonework and is set in 10 acres of attractive gardens. There are 45 rooms comprising of Junior Suites, One bedroom Suites and the King Raven Suite. For our tours we use Junior Suite, these spacious rooms have 49 metres squared and include a sitting area with leather sofas and a private balcony. The bathrooms have a full size bath tub with shower. There is complementary wifi and tea & coffee making facilities in the rooms. There are two restaurants with Bhutanese and international cuisine. The bar is called Mad Monk Bar. Other facilities include spa, a fitness centre, sauna, steam room as well as a traditional Bhutanese outdoor hot-stone bath. There is a business centre, Tea House and a Meditation House.

Naksel Boutique Hotel & Spa has one of the best locations on a hillside above Paro Valley with superb views of Mount Chomolhari and Taktsang known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery. This hotel is designed with traditional Bhutanese architecture such as hand-carved pillars, beautiful stonework and tapered mud-brick walls. The rooms are simple yet comfortable with wood flooring Swedish under floor heating systems and furniture locally crafted in Ngoba Village.  The Olive Restaurant serves local Bhutanese specialties, Indian, Asian and Western dishes. There is also the Chabchu bar and The Coffee House with unrestrained views of Jumolhari and a fireplace. Other facilities include the Menchu Himalayan Herbal Spa.
